I started Lone Star Gearworks an active duty law enforcement officer who relies on gear where it matters most. I've carried, tested, and trained with equipment in the field, and I've seen how it performs when conditions aren't ideal and the stakes are real. My background includes force-on-force training, where gear is put through realistic, high-stress scenarios. Those exercises show quickly what works under pressure and what doesn't: what stays accessible, what holds up, and what fails when you need it. That experience, combined with real-world operational use, shapes how I evaluate every product on this site. Away from the job, the same standards apply. I'm an avid outdoorsman who has also spent time competing in some shooting sports. Time outdoors and in competition has taught me what separates gear that looks good from gear that lasts. Every review here comes from that mix of professional and personal experience. I don't recommend anything I wouldn't trust myself.

I joined Lone Star Gear Works before the company got off the ground, seeing potential in the mission. I served in the US Army as an infantryman for over 6 years. 3 of those years I was an NCO, leading and mentoring soldiers. During my time in the Army, I deployed to the Middle East twice, once to Syria and once to Jordan. During those deployments and countless field exercises, I used tons of gear, depending on it to fulfill whatever mission I was given. Some of the gear that was praised by the community came up short. Some of the gear the community hated held up. I realize what we needed was a group of guys who honestly reviewed gear critically after they used it. No more “first impressions” reviews camouflaged as 5000 hour reviews. That’s the mission statement we’re committed to, and that’s what we promise to you.
